Who is Jonny, anyway?

by Jon Mullich

Jon Mullich is one of those guys with a myriad of talents in a large array of areas – actor, writer, graphic artist , webmaster – and is perpetually pissed off and embittered because he hasn’t yet gained the fame and wealth that he deserves for any of them.

Jon Mullich in a typically perky mood.

As an actor, he has been seen across the western United States in such theatres as Crown City Theatre, the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, Actors Lab Arizona, Actors Alley, and Nevada Shakespeare. He has a passion for the works of William Shakespeare, and his favorite roles include Malvolio in Twelfth Night, Angelo in Measure for Measure, Gloucester in the late Reza Abdoh’s avant garde staging of King Lear, and the title role in Hamlet at Theatre Exchange (a performance he repeated in the Shakespeare pastiche Just Desserts). He has also appeared in everything from musicals (Man of LaMancha, The Apple Tree) to murder mysteries (The Mousetrap), to period pieces (the villainous Lord Grizzle in The Author’s Thumb, Abel Drugger in The Alchemist, Thomas Diaforus in The Imaginary Invalid) in which producers have made good use of what has been described as Jon’s “Renaissance-era face”.

Jon’s is also a playwright whose plays include The Special Award, a biographical drama about film pioneer D.W. Griffith and the 1936 Academy Awards ceremony; the romantic comedy The Lipstick Lesbian; and Jon’s adaptation of the Italian farce A Servant of Two Masters set in Prohibition-era Chicago, in which he created the lead role of Truffaldino Bottachio in the world premiere production in Pasadena, California. U.S.S. Pinafore, his adaptation of Gilbert & Sullivan which takes place in the universe of Star Trek, is currently playing in Los Angeles.

Jon’s main bead-and-butter gig is as a graphic artist and webmaster. His current employment situation is none of your goddamned business, but you can find out more about him at his web site www.madbeast.com.
